Photo Worthy Food – Homemade Pierogi

Homemade pierogi, as prepared by my mother and me.

Homemade pierogi, as prepared by my mother and me.

I called my mother this morning, and she said that she was making pierogi. So, I got ready, and rushed over to give her a helping hand.  Now, before you think I’m a good son, please realize that I was really hungry.  So, my motivation may have been a little selfish.  Needless to say, my mother gave me the stinky job of having to roll the dough.  Thanks Mom!!!!  All in all, the pierogi turned out pretty darn good.  I must have eaten like a dozen and even brought some home.  We plan to serve these for our Christmas Eve dinner.  I can’t wait!!

Photo Worthy Food – Grilled Pork Chop with Apricot Sauce

Gilled pork chop with apricot sauce, as served at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, Farmington, Pennsylvania, USA.

I recently had a business trip to the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, PA.  For those who don’t know, Nemacolin is located about 1 1/2 hours southeast of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.  Nemacolin sits just on the edge of Ohiopyle State Park.  This is some absolutely beautiful country.  The resort is fantastic.  There is so much to do there.  The restaurants and the spa are first class.  For those who like outdoor adventures, you can white water raft, zipline,  skeet shooting, or go four-wheeling in a jeep.  Throw in some great pools and a championship golf course, and what more could you ask for?  Maybe butler service in the room you say.  Yeah, they have that too!!!  (Honestly, I thought the butler was just messing with me when he said he could wake me up in the morning with a gentle nudge.)

Here’s the link to check it out!   Oh, I almost forgot, the pork chop with apricot sauce was fantastic.

Photo Worthy Food – Cranberry Nut Bread

Cranberry nut bread, as prepared by Carole D.

We have a new Photo-Worthy Food submitter today.  Carole D. from West Leechburg, PA, submits to us Cranberry Nut Bread.  Wow, it sure does look delicious.  That is a very nice presentation as well.  I sure like the idea of putting the garland around the plate.  It really spices up the presentation.   If this plate doesn’t get you in the mood for the holidays, I’m not sure what will.  Thanks for the submission, Carole, and keep ’em coming!!!

Photo Worthy Food – Thanksgiving Leftovers

What to do with Thanksgiving leftovers? Make a turkey sandwich.

This edition of Photo Worthy Food comes from Dr. Dino in Sarver, PA.  Dr. Dino has become a regular contributor.  Thanks Doc.  The Doctor says, “Sure, you can now get one of these at Denny’s, but I’ve been making these for decades.  Everyone used to think I was crazy, now they are begging for me to make them a sandwich.”  I have to say it looks pretty darn good.  To make, simply  layer all of your leftovers, turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, and don’t forget to top with the cranberry sauce.  Use whatever you have leftover.  I would add one thing, be sure to use some high quality, fresh bread.  Bread makes or breaks the sandwich.  You can’t have a great sandwich without fresh bread.  Thanks Dino, great submission.

Photo Worthy Food – Thanksgiving Dinner With Family

Our family having dinner.

Two turkeys, my sister and the bird.

I would like to say thanks to my little sister for hosting such a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.  She did such a great job.   Maybe we will have to make her be a guest contributor to the Triplo G Italian Kitchen.  Holidays are such a great time to be with family, catching up, and reminiscing about the days gone by.  I would like to say thanks to all my family and to all the important people in my life.

The turkey and all the fixings.
